SoLo Suites

A hotel like no other!

Built in 2018, Victoria BC's SoLo Suites is a brand-new concrete and steel six-story condo hotel featuring a one-of-a-kind check-in experience where you can book, pay and receive your access codes all online, without the need for a check-in desk or to speak with anyone. This is truly a novel way of supplying accommodations as you can check-in at any time after 4 PM with no need to ensure you get to the hotel "before the desk closes".

A brief history

Malcolm Hall is a leader in building, innovative, astute and daring. At a time when no one was buillding, Malcolm was building concrete and steel buildings that were more environmentally friendly and superior.

SoLo Suites started off with the idea as a long term rental suite. With the need for short term accommodations in the Westshore, suggestions were made to have the building house university students, a dorm for sports teams and smaller footprint rentals.

As the building developed, the idea of a hotel emerged. SoLo Suites through evolution of thought became a hotel providing everything that a guest needed to stay. Stays can be one night, three nights or 30 nights.

With a test in one of Hall’s long term rental units, he rented to a family who had sold their house and needed accommodations. What was to be a three week stay turned into a permanent living situation, and that’s when we knew short term rental units appeal to many different people.

SoLo Suites occupants have been members of emergency response teams, construction workers, and students. The building wasn’t built with tradespeople in mind, but he said that they have become one of their target markets, as construction workers are in high demand in Greater Victoria. Currently one quarter of their suites are being rented to construction workers.

As the suites are fully furnished and equipped with amenities, and SoLo Suites can see why people would make that their lifestyle. The building is a concrete build to handle traffic noise from Goldstream Avenue.

The suites range in size from micro suites at around 300 square feet to about 700 square feet for luxury suites.
